Essential Question: What has Benjamin Franklin done to impact this world?
Objectives: K: Students will know the Benjamin Franklin proved that electricity was present in lightning through a key experiment. they will know that he started the first library and the first volunteer fire department in America. U: Students will understand that Benjamin Franklin is known for his kite experiment which he proved that electricity was present in lightning. They will also understand that he started the first library and the first volunteer fire department in America. D: Students will be able to identify the accomplishments of Benjamin Franklin.

Kite Craft materials, construction paper, crayons
smart board presentation on the different inventions Benjamin Franklin created
Exit ticket
Procedures for lesson: Introduction: (10 minutes)
Have students come and sit at the carpet.
Ask students, "what do you know about Benjamin Franklin?" Students reply.
"Do you know that he was the one who invented electricity?" "We will be learning about the different inventions Benjamin Franklin came up with that we have today."
"I will read the book, Now and Ben, The Modern Inventions of Benjamin Franklin by Gene Barretta."
After read aloud, ask students what inventions they have in their house that they use.
Instructional Activity: (15 minutes)
Show students smartboard presentation about Benjamin Franklin with pictures. He conducted an experiment with a kite and key during a storm in which he discovered electricity. He started the first library in which many of you go to today. He also opened the first volunteer fire department in America.
"We will create a kite craft in which you will write the accomplishements of Benjamin Franklin. You may use the inventions in the book, but I would like for all of you to write in complete sentences."
Show example of craft to students.
Students work on craft.
Once they are done with their craft, give the students an exit ticket.
The exit ticket is a worksheet where the students are going to circle the inventions that Benjamin Franklin discovered
Assessment: -Exit ticket to see whether the students know what Benjamin Franklin did in order to impact this world we live in today.
Differentiation: - Visual: I had a smartboard presentation for the students to see and I read them a picture book. -Kinesthetic: Students are able to move around by crafting a kite craft. - Auditory- I will be reading a book to the students.
